Oh hello there!

Did I say hi yet? It’s important to me that I say hi to you. If you’re here - welcome! This post comes to you on a late Thursday night as I try to figure out how to build a website on the fly. Tutorials be damned, I grew up with the internet and if I can’t figure out how to navigate SquareSpace, maybe I don’t deserve to have a website.

Anyway.

Art is a funny thing. Weird. Beautiful. Meaningless without the viewer’s gaze in my humble opinion. What makes art magical is what you think of it and what you see in it; and that could be so many different things for so many different people. The art is going to be the main thing on this site, but occasionally I would like to lift the curtain so you can see the woman behind it.

I’ve sat on this domain a while and this idea even longer. The logistics were intimidating. How do you do it? I wanted to overturn every rock and present nothing but well-thought-out perfection. Every question answered, every T crossed, and every I dotted. I wanted to have a portfolio, and a brand, and a product, and a method…Come to find out, that’s how things die - in the pursuit of perfection.

Perfect doesn’t exist, nor should it.

Call it flawed/funny/interesting/imperfect. Call it human. With the rise of AI in creative spaces, I was kind of compelled into just… doing it. Already I have changed the tone I was shooting for, the colors I thought were respectable, and the brand I was trying to build.

It occured to me that maybe this is less about branding, and more about an honest attempt. Maybe I can just be a person who does art with a website.
